CAPITOL BOMB THREAT 4/22/24 Police
are investigating a bomb threat that placed the Illinois Capitol complex on
lockdown Sunday. Illinois
Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias said on X, that Secretary of State Police
responded to an Illinois State Police bomb threat call outside the capitol
building. It
was placed on lockdown as officers looked for explosive devices, but the threat
ultimately deemed not credible. The
Capitol reopened around 2 pm on Sunday. This
is the second time the Capitol complex has been placed on lockdown this year. Another
threat in March put the building on lockdown while lawmakers were meeting
inside.
