SENIOR FAIR RETURNS 4/22/24 State
Representative Blaine Wilhour is pleased to announce the return of the Senior
Fair after a three-year suspension due to the Covid-19 restrictions. A
popular program for senior citizens in the past, the number of vendors has more
than doubled to nearly 40 local, regional, and state programs, community
organizations, businesses, and services offered to constituents. The
event will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am tomorrow at the Salem Community Activities
Center located at 416 Oglesby Street. Representative
Blaine Wilhour said, “I am pleased to say we are able to offer this very
popular event once again to the seniors in my district.” “This annual
event helps older constituents connect with health services, learn about
programs tailored to an older clientele, and hopefully help them improve their
quality of life through programs to keep them active and healthy for many years
to come.” Local
programs and service providers available that day will include the
Bryan-Bennett Library, Bandy’s Pharmacy & Home Medical, Salem Travel, and
several health and rehabilitation organizations. Some of the regional
groups and service providers will include the Midland Area Agency on Aging and
the Honor Flight program for US Military Veterans, and there will be State of
Illinois representatives for the Department of Veterans Affairs and the I-CASH
program through the State Treasurer’s office. Attendees
will be able to take advantage of opportunities for free blood pressure and eye
screenings from the Christopher Rural Health Planning Corp., discounted lab
vouchers from SSM Health, spinal screenings from Salem Chiropractic, and SSM
Health Cancer Care colon FIT (fecal immunochemical test) kits. Complimentary
refreshments will be served, and attendees are eligible for door prizes. Constituents
may contact the district office at 618-665-4109 or online at RepWilhour.com for
