6K FOR WATER 5/3/24 The
2024 6k for Water will be held on Saturday, May 18th for walkers and
runners from all over Southern Illinois. This is the 8th year for Flora's
6k for Water where people come together to raise money for clean water. Flora's
6k for Water partners with the Christian Humanitarian Organization, World
Vision. Throughout the years, Flora has raised enough money to bring
clean water to 900 children. World Vision works in 100 different
nations. The money goes towards building deep wells, rain catchments,
water pipelines and the like. 6
kilometers or 3.7 miles, is the average distance that women and children all
over the world walk daily for water. As a result, children do not get the
chance to go to school, they have the fear of being kidnapped, and being
trafficked. Clean water within a village equals freedom from those
things. Nearly 800 children die each day from water-related
illnesses. You can help bring clean water to these communities.
World Vision reaches a new person with clean water every 10 seconds. Sign
up for the 6k on May 18th. The race begins at 9 AM at the
Flora First Christian Church. No need to attend FCC to join. This
is a community event. Each
registration equals clean water for 1 person for the rest of their life.
